Multiply is a new FREE fully-funded programme s to help adults across the UK to improve their numeracy skills. Whether you’re looking to boost your number skills to progress at work or to help with daily tasks, Multiply could be the next step in unlocking your potential.

Our courses run for six sessions for 4 hours a week.

Get to grips with Microsoft Excel, a popular spreadsheet IT programme, which is useful at home and work.  Experience of using Excel is commonly required by employers. At the end of the course, you will have the option to take a Level 2 exam and gain a spreadsheet qualification.  The courses are delivered by experienced tutors in an informal adult focused setting.

Entry Requirements

Multiply requires no previous qualifications or experience. The sessions are free of charge and open to all Cheshire East residents who are aged 19+ and do not already have a GCSE at grade C  / Level 4  in maths.

How is the course delivered?

The course is delivered one day per week, face to face in our Congleton Learning Centre Cheshire.

What topics are covered?

The essential concepts of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals and percentages, time and money. There is a focus on clear explanations and practical examples, budgeting and saving.

What are the course objectives?

To build confidence in maths and improve numeracy skills. The course is designed to be practical and relevant to everyday life, including managing money.

Who can do Multiply?

Anyone (19+) who wants to improve their maths skills and gain confidence using maths in everyday situations.

How is the course assessed?

There are no exams but a possible progression to an accredited functional skills course and qualification from entry levels to level 2.

What are the benefits of the course?

Building a strong foundation and gaining confidence in maths, improving job and academic prospects with the possibility of progressing to a recognised functional skills maths course and improving overall knowledge.

What is the application process?

Existing students can sign a transfer and additional program form. If the student is new to the college, they should apply online through the college web page or in person with our Admissions Team.

Who is the course aimed at?

Suitable if you are a beginner or have some prior experience of using Microsoft Excel.  Ideal for anyone looking to get better at managing their bills, budgeting or wanting to improve their potential at work.

 

What will I study?

The course will focus on making and modifying Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.  Improve your competence in:

  • Using standard mathematical formulas and functions
  • Creating and formatting graphs and charts
  • Using spreadsheets to monitor your household budget.

 

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through a range of activities. All students will have the option to gain a spreadsheet qualification.
