Functional Skills English

Functional English provides the basis for effective communication and understanding across the three subject skill areas; speaking and listening, reading and writing. Functional Skills qualifications are taught from Entry Level up to Level 2. Our courses are funded through the Adult Education Budget (AEB, and are completely free of charge to learners over 19.

The courses are delivered by experienced tutors in an informal adult focused setting.

Joining a Functional Skills English class will give you the opportunity to improve your literacy skills and to use these skills for practical problem solving. It will build your confidence in how to use English in all aspects of your everyday life.

ESOL

Ascentis ESOL Skills for Life

Ascentis ESOL Skills for Life qualifications are designed specifically for people living in Britain and focus on preparing learners for everyday life, further education and the world of work.

The primary aim is to assist the learner in becoming independent of other people such as interpreters or translators when interacting with English speakers in a work environment and elsewhere.

By improving their communication and fluency in English, learners will significantly improve their employability skills and their ability to fully participate in every part of life in Britain beyond their local community.

We run classes across the week from our head office at Riverside Congleton.

Multiply is a new FREE fully-funded programme s to help adults across the UK to improve their numeracy skills. Whether you’re looking to boost your number skills to progress at work or to help with daily tasks, Multiply could be the next step in unlocking your potential.

Our courses run for six sessions for 4 hours a week.

Get to grips with Microsoft Excel, a popular spreadsheet IT programme, which is useful at home and work.  Experience of using Excel is commonly required by employers. At the end of the course, you will have the option to take a Level 2 exam and gain a spreadsheet qualification.  The courses are delivered by experienced tutors in an informal adult focused setting.

Digital Skills

IT User Skills Certificate

The ICDL qualification is nationally recognised. It is designed to cover the key concepts of computing, its practical applications and their use in the workplace and society in general. The Level 2 Certificate is made up of 4 modules, covering word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and Improving Productivity. The ICDL qualifications are widely used in the workplace as proof of competent and efficient computer skills

BCS Essential Digital Skills: Qualifications for Work

Construction

CSCS Skills Card – Health and Safety in a Construction Environment

Anyone who wishes to work on a construction site in the UK requires a CSCS card. Our end to end training and support ensures participants are ready to step on site.

This is a 3 day fully funded Level 1 qualification, designed to provide candidates with fundamental knowledge and understanding of health and safety in a construction environment.

The qualification covers risk assessment, working at height, manual handling, improving health and safety at work and the safe operation of equipment.

Individuals are required to achieve this Level 1 qualification and pass the CITB Operative Health, Safety and Environment test to obtain the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Labourers’ Green Card.

We will fund the training, the test and the client will apply for their card.
