Ascentis Level 1 Award in Infection Control and Prevention

This course introduces learners to the principles of infection control and prevention in daily life. It considers the different causes of infection and how infection is spread. Learners will also be able to identify their responsibilities and that of others in controlling and preventing infection and gain a clear understanding of the importance of good personal hygiene.

Aims

The aims of these qualifications are to enable learners:

• Understand causes of infection

• Understand the spread of infection

• Know the importance of good personal hygiene in the prevention and control of infections

• Recognise the responsibilities of the work place in the prevention and control of infection

Assessment Method

This qualification is assessed through the completion of an Ascentis-devised multiple-choice test that is carried out at the completion of the course.

The grading of this qualification is pass or did not achieve.
