Free Construction Course: Level 1 Health & Safety with Springboard

If you’re considering a role in construction, this short course offers a practical way to get started. Springboard is running a Level 1 Health & Safety in Construction course from 13th to 15th July 2026 at Congleton Cricket Club, designed to help you gain the essential qualifications needed to work on site.

Over three days, you’ll complete the nationally recognised Level 1 Health & Safety in a Construction Environment qualification (NOCN). This provides a basic understanding of workplace safety and introduces the standards expected in construction roles.

To work on most UK construction sites, you’ll also need a CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card, which shows employers you have the required knowledge to work safely.

The course includes preparation for the Health & Safety Operatives Test, which you must pass to apply for the CSCS Green Labourer Card. Your test will be booked and paid for as part of the course, so you won’t need to arrange this separately.

This course is fully funded, meaning it is free for adults aged 19+ who are claiming benefits or earning up to £25,750 per year. This removes the cost barrier and provides a clear route into entry-level construction work.

It’s particularly suitable for people who want to move into construction, return to work, or change career direction. It may also appeal if you’re looking for a practical job and want a straightforward way to gain the required certification.

Construction offers a range of job opportunities, from general labouring roles to more specialised trades. Getting your CSCS card is often the first step towards accessing that work.

The course is delivered by Springboard, with experienced trainers and structured support throughout.
