About Us:

Just Drop-In is a local charity providing a range of Counselling and Wellbeing Services to children, young people & families. One of our main Wellbeing Services is known as MyPad – a life skills kitchen where young people can come and learn how to cook. It’s additionally used to cater for functions such as in house training. The main role of Kitchen Project Worker is to organise all office based functions in relation to our MyPad Kitchen project.  

Main Responsibilities  

  • Provide catering and refreshments to occasional events such as our AGM, Carol Service & Training Days 
  • Complete regular stock takes and order supplies from sustainable sources 
  • Manage MyPad room bookings  
  • Lead on communications for MyPad, dealing with enquiries from the public by answering the telephone and responding to emails  
  • Maintain a clean environment meeting health & safety standards 
  • Responsible for recycling and promoting eco-friendly ways of working to the wider team 
  • Develop new ideas 
  • Explore food hygiene requirements 
  • Lead on food parcel distributions 
  • Be responsible for own learning and development 
  • Work within policies, procedures and organisational values of Just Drop-In 
  • Ensure the safeguarding of children and young people is a priority within the service and report any critical concerns to the Safeguarding Lead 

Skills Required

  • Good organisation skills 
  • Ability to communicate positively & effectively with a diverse range of staff, volunteers, young people and members of the public 
  • Attention to detail, and ability to manage accurate records to report to line manager 
  • IT literate, with a good knowledge of Microsoft office 365, Teams & Outlook 
  • Proven track record of reliability & integrity 
  • Genuine passion to work in a kitchen environment 
  • Basic cooking & baking skills, with willingness to develop further 
  • Interest for the environment, being the eco champion for the organisation 
  • Ability to work within a health & safety framework 
  • Ability to organise, plan and undertake own work, including appropriate record keeping 
  • A commitment to the wider work of Just Drop-In and promotion of all services 
  • No qualifications necessary, however a positive attitude to own growth & development is essential
