Cakes and Bakes
Our cooking from scratch courses will take you from novice to good home cook and teach you the skills you need to cook with confidence. Over the six sessions we’ll teach you how to cook a variety of dishes using a range of fresh ingredients to make affordable meals from scratch. The courses will give you a great repertoire of recipes and techniques to use every day and you’ll learn knife skills throughout.
There are no formal entry requirements to access this course.
Students must be aged 19+
Who is the course aimed at?
- Adults with little experience or low confidence in the kitchen.
- Home cooks that want to improve their range of recipes and skills.
- University students in need of survival skills.
- Young adults wanting to master the core life skills of cookery.
What will I study?
In addition to learning a range of new recipes you will also learn basic knife skills, how to season correctly, how to choose healthy fresh ingredients and how to incorporate the use of herbs and spices in dishes.
How will I be assessed?
There is no formal assessment.
2 hours per week over 6 weeks
